Hi, I'm Disha. Quick question — have you ever walked out of an interview, or a viva, and thought of the perfect answer thirty seconds too late? In Grade twelve, so much rides on twenty minutes in a room with a stranger — admissions, scholarships, that first internship. Give me fifteen minutes, and I'll show you one move that lets you walk in ready and answer well, even when they ask the hard one. Let's go.
First, one word: point. The single biggest interview mistake is waffling — circling the answer, hoping you land on it. The move is the opposite. Make your point first, in one clear line, and then back it up. Point first, proof second. It sounds obvious, but under nerves almost everyone does it backwards — and loses the room in the first ten seconds.
Start small. Someone asks what you're into. The weak answer is, “um, lots of things, I guess.” The strong one is, “I'm into design — I built an app cover last month.” See it? A point — “I'm into design” — and one piece of proof. That's the whole shape of a good answer, scaled down. Point, then proof, every time.
Now the question that sinks people: “tell me about yourself.” It's so open that most of us ramble our whole life story. Don't. Lead with one clear point about who you are right now, and back it with one real thing you've done. “I'm someone who finishes what I start — last year I ran a project end to end.” Point, proof, done. Clear beats complete.
Here's the real thing. Every next step this year — admissions, scholarships, internships — is gated by an interview. And at some point, they'll ask the question you were hoping to skip: your weakness, your worst grade, the gap in your record. That's the moment presence is really tested. And later, when they ask if you have questions, you ask a real one. Honest, evidenced, curious — that's presence.
